My name is Rachel! I am a natural light, documentarian style wedding & couples photographer based in Washington. I found photography by accident, but now five years later, I could not imagine doing absolutely anything else. I have been shooting coming on 5 years and have been full time for 3 years. I have shot in over 15 different countries and 13 different states, so I have a good amount of experience shooting in diverse places. I’ve studied photography in 2 different countries, learning from some of the best photographers in the industry. I can say with 100% confidence that I have a creative eye & will provide you with images you will cherish forever. In my off season, I teach photography to other aspiring photographers and mentor them in their business. I scale back my work schedule in the winter so that I can snowboard, rock climb, write & travel. A few other things that I love are; poetry, thrift stores, camp fires, coffee, guacamole & making people laugh. I would consider my business & shooting style to be very relaxed, enjoyable & relational. I like to treat my client relationships like friendships because I am responsible for capturing such an intimate day for them. I think that connection is EVERYTHING when it comes to capturing great photographs. I want you to be your complete self around me so that I can capture 100% who you are. My focus when I am shooting is to capture the expression & emotion because photos are nothing without that. I want your experience working with me to be enjoyable, helpful, easy & fun. I’ve always been a story teller..
Before photography, I identified myself as a writer. For as long as I can remember I’ve kept a journal. I wrote about everything through every season of my life. From six years old to twenty-two, I’ve wrote about it all. Looking back, I am so thankful to have my seasons & feelings documented because they remind me of who I was & inspire me for who I have yet to become. I have this box that I keep random special, very special, things in. Below are some photos that I have held onto as people in my life have come & gone, like my beautiful grandparents. Just LOOK at their sweet faces. These photos mean the absolute world to me because it shows me so much of who they were. These photos are still here, even though the souls are not. These photos provide me a visual of their smiles & a window to their hearts. I will save these to give to my kids.
THIS IS WHY I DO THIS FOR A LIVING. Because I want you to have photos you can look back on, give your kids & enjoy when you are thirty seven, fifty seven & eighty seven. I promise to serve you with an experience you won’t forget & also images you will want to keep forever & pass down to generations to come.
